Why we built a calculator instead of a slogan
“Eco-friendly” is the most over-used phrase in the pallet business. We wanted something you could actually check. The Ledger takes the same reuse logic that runs our yard and makes it legible — a receipt you can screenshot, share with a client, or paste into a quarterly report.
The factors are deliberately conservative. We'd rather under-promise the impact and have the real numbers come in higher. When you place an order, we can swap these rules-of-thumb for figures based on the exact sizes and grades you receive.

How is the CO₂ figure calculated?
We use a conservative estimate of about 11.2 kg CO₂e avoided per reused pallet — the emissions you'd otherwise spend manufacturing a brand-new pallet from fresh lumber. Real figures vary with size, species and how much repair a pallet needs.
How much wood does reusing a pallet actually save?
A standard 48×40 GMA pallet is roughly 40 lbs of solid wood and about 11 board-feet of lumber. Reuse keeps that material working instead of being chipped, burned or landfilled.
What does 'trees' worth of timber' mean?
It's a friendly proxy: we estimate one mature tree yields lumber for roughly 40 pallets. Dividing your count by 40 gives an intuitive sense of scale — it's an illustration, not a forestry audit.
Can I use these numbers in my sustainability report?
Use them as directional estimates and cite them as such. When you order, we can provide order-specific figures based on the actual sizes, grades and repair work involved.
